Disease-free-life on the lines adopted by Siddhas, we are bound to follow. Although we can't overcome death, we can postpone death to a maximum period if we follow the way of life adopted by Siddhars. Pleasure or pain does not occur of it's own accord but we ourselves seek them.
Be Disease-Free Rules
It is indispensable for everyone to follow the DO'S and DON'T'S as detailed below.
DO'S - Practices to Follow
- ✓Give no room for constipation and suppression of urination
- ✓Intake of measured foods
- ✓Timely sleep
- ✓Observe periodicity in sexual intercourse
- ✓Taking cow's milk at bedtime
- ✓Drinking a cup of cold water in the morning and bedtime
- ✓Hot water bath whenever oil bath is taken
- ✓While sleeping, the left hand should be underneath the head and sleep on left side
- ✓Drinking water after meals
- ✓Taking Yam (Senai kilangu) mixed foods periodically
- ✓Vomit monthly once
- ✓Purgative once in four months
- ✓Oil bath once in four days in hot water
- ✓Wear clean clothing
- ✓Worship the parents, Ancestors, Gods and Guru
DON'TS - Practices to Avoid
- ✗Prohibit sleeping and sexual intercourse during daytime
- ✗Prohibit alcoholic drinks and smoking
- ✗Avoid sexual intercourse with elderly woman
- ✗Avoid taking sour foods and butter milk
- ✗Don't take more than two meals a day
- ✗Avoid anxiety, anger and drenching in rain
- ✗Avoid open air sleeping, drenching in water and frozen ice
- ✗Don't exert too much in manual work and avoid dust being smothered in the body
- ✗Don't smell flowers during night
- ✗Don't sleep under tree shades during night
- ✗Don't go to the places or streets of nuisance where urination and faeces are in plenty
- ✗Don't comb hair after sunset
Five Types of Land
| Land Type | Description | Common Diseases |

| Kurinji Mountain Land | Mountain and mountainous lands. The products of the lands are of good potents. | Virus fevers, stomach tumours. Diseases of Silethumam remains strongly. |
| Mullai Forest Land | Pastoral and forest regions with abundant flora and fauna. | All paralytic diseases and bile (Pitha) diseases will spread and remain. |
| Marutham Agricultural Land | Land with flora cures diseases emanating from Tri-doshas. Products of six tastes have effects of curing all kinds of diseases. | Most beneficial land - cures Vatha, Pitha, Kapam diseases |
| Neithal Coastal Land | Salt producing land near the sea. Affects body constitution significantly. | Paralytic diseases, thin bodies become obese, Vatha diseases in liver, liver enlargement and inflammation. |
| Paalai Desert Land | Dry, arid regions with harsh conditions and limited resources. | Prone to Vatha, Pitha, Kapa diseases. Longevity of life will be reduced. |
Six Seasons and Dietary Recommendations
One year is generally divided into six parts, each of two months. The intake of foods, environs and actions in one season shall be changeable to adopt another seasonal change which will be good for health.
Kaar Season
Avani-Purattasi (August-September)
Due to cloudy weather air becomes cool and the steam originated from earth affects the metabolism.
Recommendations:
- • Hunger producing foods
- • Water, butter, milk
- • Well-water beneficial
- • Winter clothing and warm places
Koodhir Season
Aippasi-Karthigai (October-November)
Humidity will be more in this season. Water is purified by sunrays.
Recommendations:
- • Insipid, sweet and soporific mixed dry foods
- • Bathing and drinking more water
- • Increases digestion
Munpani Season
Margazhi-Thai (December-January)
This season affects the body. Hunger will be increasing.
Recommendations:
- • Sweet, sour and salted foods
- • Ghee products producing metabolism
- • Woollen and silk rugs
- • Hot water bathing and basking in sun
- • Outside work producing sweating
Pinpani Season
Masi-Panguni (February-March)
It is a dry season requiring special attention to nourishment.
Recommendations:
- • Residing in warm houses
- • Food which nourishes the body
Ilavenir Season
Chithirai-Vaikasi (April-May)
Kapam will increase in this season.
Recommendations:
- • Savour, soporific and insipid mixed foods in plenty
- • Avoid sleeping in daytime
- • Stay in places without heat of sun
Mudhuvenir Season
Aani-Aadi (June-July)
Due to dryness, Kapam is digested. Vatha diseases will originate.
Recommendations:
- • Easily digested foods
- • Cool foods
- • Residence at salubrious places
